This May, UFCW 1518 members spent two impactful days in Victoria. We made sure our voice rang out loud and clear at the BC Legislature.
This marked our first Lobby Days in several years. A record number of members joined in, and together, we made sure BC decision-makers heard from working people about their real experiences to understand the changes UFCW 1518 members don’t just want, but need.
We showed the government that UFCW 1518 members aren’t just essential workers—we’re essential voices in shaping a fairer BC. And we’re just getting started.
Over two days in May, our delegation met with Premier David Eby, Minister of Labour Jennifer Whiteside, Minister of Agriculture Lana Popham, Minister of Post-Secondary Education Anne Kang, and Minister of Public Safety Gary Begg, as well as many MLAs from all over the province. Our members talked about the challenges they face: workplace safety issues, housing affordability and general cost-of-living, and a need for better workplace protections. They brought real stories from the front lines—stories that make policy personal.

We look forward to talking more with the government. We want to make progress on the issues that matter most to our members. Our door is always open.
